Collector's Notes: Wendy Donahue of the Chicago Tribune noted, "Purple and Pinto prove a winning pair yet again for Michelle Obama. On "60 Minutes" Sunday, Obama wore the "Eme" top and "Rani" skirt in an iris color, designed by Chicago's Maria Pinto. The ensemble is from Pinto's spring collection, but rendered in tweed for Obama, a loyal Pinto client. The sleeveless element was retained from the original design."

Collector's Notes: Michelle Obama chose a fierce black and red print Thakoon Panichgul dress for the end of the 2008 Democratic National Convention. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Shoppers quickly began calling boutiques that carry the label to reserve the dress, which is part of the resort collection that began arriving at stores this month, the label?s chief executive, Maria Borromeo, said this week. ?We?re not making any more of them,? she added."

"Women literally were snatching it up," says Jessica Wells, a spokeswoman for the company, which has 322 stores across the country told the Wall Street Journal.
